Harry Austin, KC8TEC and Ralph Greenberg, K8CAR are in charge of our Hospital Committee. Additional volunteer coverage is needed for North Oakland Hospital and St. John’s Oakland. If interested, please notify Harry or Ralph. Joel met with the West Bloomfield Rotary Club today (4 February 2004) who are interested in Ham Radio activities. One question arose concerning whether a West Bloomfield infotech department could (1) receive our transmissions and (2) rebroadcast them over their fiberoptic system. ARPSC volunteers are needed to go through our files and determine what training certificates we have received from our members. This list would be used to determine what is missing. The ARRL is considering whether to restructure amateur radio licensing into three levels. These would be (1) the entry level equivalent to novice, (2) general class and (3) extra class with 5 words a minute requirement. This would help the FCC simplify their bookwork. Joel Goldberg, EC and the members of the Oakland County ARPSC expressed their sincere thanks to the Oakland County Emergency Response and Preparedness for embroidered shirts with the ARPSC logo. At this meeting, Joel requested advice from the members for criteria on distributing Oakland County ARPSC logo shirts to deserving members. Those members who have pagers with automatic weather notification should note that this pager system has been turned off. Rumors exist that the Oakland County Road Commission may be selling the Bald Mountain Tower site. (2).
